Chemical Peeling

Chemical peeling is a time-tested skin resurfacing technique that uses carefully formulated acid solutions to remove damaged outer layers of skin, revealing fresher, smoother, and more evenly toned skin beneath. At Amit Aesthetics in Aligarh, we offer a full range of chemical peels — from gentle superficial peels for routine skin brightening to deeper peels for significant skin concerns — all selected and administered based on your skin type, concerns, and desired outcome.

Our peel options include alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peels such as glycolic and lactic acid for gentle exfoliation and brightening; beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) peels like salicylic acid for oily and acne-prone skin; and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels for deeper concerns such as moderate wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne scars. We also offer herbal peels for patients who prefer a more natural approach. Chemical peels work by dissolving the bonds between dead skin cells, accelerating cell turnover and stimulating collagen production in the deeper layers.

Chemical peels effectively treat a wide range of skin disorders including hyperpigmentation, melasma, acne and acne scars, fine lines, sun damage, uneven skin tone, and dull complexion. They can be used as standalone treatments or combined with other modalities such as microneedling, laser therapy, or topical skincare regimens for enhanced results. During your consultation, we assess your skin, discuss your goals, and recommend the most appropriate peel type and strength to achieve optimal results safely.

  • Superficial peels (glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid)

  • Salicylic acid peels for acne-prone skin

Recovery & Aftercare

Superficial peels cause mild redness and light flaking for 1-3 days. Medium-depth peels may result in noticeable peeling for 5-7 days with some redness. Deep peels require 7-14 days of recovery with significant peeling and redness. Sun protection is critical after any peel — we recommend broad-spectrum SPF 50 and minimal sun exposure during the healing period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which chemical peel is right for my skin concern?
The choice of peel depends on your skin type, concern, and desired downtime. Superficial AHA peels are ideal for mild dullness, fine lines, and general brightening with minimal downtime. Salicylic acid peels work best for oily, acne-prone skin. Medium-depth TCA peels address moderate pigmentation and scars. Dr. Agrawal will recommend the most effective option during your skin assessment.
How often should I get a chemical peel?
Superficial peels can be done every 2-4 weeks as part of a regular skincare maintenance routine. Medium-depth peels are typically performed every 2-3 months. Deep peels are usually a one-time treatment or repeated only once or twice a year. A series of 4-6 superficial peels often delivers the best cumulative results for common concerns.
Are chemical peels safe for Indian skin tones?
Yes, when properly selected and performed. Indian skin (Fitzpatrick types III-V) requires careful peel selection to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We use peels specifically suited for darker skin tones and often include pre-treatment preparation with lightening agents and retinoids to minimize the risk of pigmentation changes. Our experience with Indian skin types ensures safe, effective results.
